Four of us showed up for games night which implied Left 4 Dead 2 (L4D2).  When setting up the game I meant to pick the Swamp Fever campaign but ended up picking Hard Rain.  I didn’t notice till we started the game.  Must have been Freudian slip because Hard Rain is my favourite campaign.

L4D2 Hard Rain Poster

I find Hard Rain the creepiest scariest campaign.  It starts off in the day light but as the campaign continues it gets darker and starts raining.  When you reach the half-way mark it’s pouring rain and “storms” blow in that hide your allies outlines and prevent chat from working.  Being stuck in the middle of the corn field when a storm blows in is nerve racking.  You can’t hear anyone, see anyone, and there are lots of witches.

I also love the fact you spend the 2nd half of the campaign retracing your steps but now the levels are flooded with water and you end up jumping across the roofs.

The only downside is the finally is fairly standard.  I wish they could have done something with the rain, such as the water continuing to rise, or something like that. Minor complaint. Hopefully this Monday I’ll play some games of Dawn of War 2 Retribution.
