Monday Night Games Meeting Minutes (Apr 11, 2011)

More Down of War 2 Retribution (DoW2R) with Mr. B. The Ork humor is still good but the maps in the missions are too narrow. Mr. B and I where constantly getting in each other’s way as we tried to maneuver our squads around narrow roads and choke points.
I’m still hooked on the multiplayer. I love big 3v3 matches, especially a close game that ends with a mass of troops and tank fighting it out over a victory point. I don’t mind 1v1 but, like all strategy games, they often end before any of the cool elite units make an appearance. Mind you I’m not very good at either 1v1 or 3v3 with a less then 50% win ratio.
While I’m not very good at playing I am very good at watching other people play. Even better then watching people play is watching people play with a commentator. The best, and pretty much only, DoW2R commentator is Harliquen and you can find his videos here. Below is a fun game to watch with lots of good grenades:
Monday Night Games Meeting Minutes (Apr 4, 2011)
April 5, 2011
This week was just me and another regular. Since it was just the two of us we could play something else besides L4D2and Magicka. We actually should have played RE5, as we are about half-way through the game and I would like to finish it, but I’m a sucker for the Wahammer 40K universe so we played DOW2R campaign instead.
We played as the humorous Orks, whose leader has a cool looking pirate hat. That makes him an Ork space pirate kaptin, which is pretty cool. During the first mission you run into an Inquisitor, who also has a cool hat. The Inquisitor tries to negotiate with the Ork kaptin to do her dirty work and the exchange goes something like:
Kaptian: You one of them inquisitive types. I don’t trust you. I like your hat.
Inquisitor: Do some dirty work for me.
Kaptian: I’ll do it if you give me your hat.
Inquisitor: I don’t think so. <Disappears>
Which hat do you think is cooler? My secret hope is the Ork campaign ends with you fighting the Inquisitor and taking her hat.
Next week, if it’s just me and Mr. Regular, remind me to play RE5 instead of DOW2.
